Artist Filmmaker Screenings at the Studio

Since 2022 I've hosted open call artist/filmmaker screenings in my studio at The Argyle Centre, Ramsgate. Below are the film programmes from each of these so far.   Images of each event are available on analogueensemble  instagram account. There is no funding for these events, it is organised on a very low cost to myself DIY basis.  The idea was to create a community of experimental artists/filmmakers in Thanet who come along show their work and engage in an informal Q&A with a supportive audience. There's a small group of friends (3) who talk about next programme ideas,  act as a sounding board and put out chairs, black out the windows, manage the door and set up drinks.   Kristian provides some excellent call-out graphics and it's us that generally meet in the pub to discuss to talk about the next programme. 29 May 2022 26 February 2023 14 May 2023 19 November 2023 7 April 2024 These nights typically happen twice a year, Spring and Autumn/Winter.  Please get in touch

Last June we programmed a night of experimental film for Whitstable Biennale 2018.  Photographer Dik Ng, who has documented all our events over the last year made this wonderful film of Vicky Smiths' work - a new work specifically made for Whitstable based on her previous 'Agitations'.

Abstract Phone Filmmaking Workshop - The Movie

Thanks to all the young people that took part in the workshop last night at Pie Factory Ramsgate and of course Louise Webb who ran a really fun session. Here's a short film of the editing section of the workshop that the children produced from a snippet of Louise's film footage of a bus journey. I'll hope you'll agree they are some very talented young people who mostly had never used Premiere Pro before and completed this in about 20 minutes.  Well done Evie, Stuart and Ruby.
