About Us

Analogue Ensemble was formed in August 2015 by Cathy Rogers and Joseph Dance to bring artists experimental film and sound events to Ramsgate pairing local and nationally renowned artists to present their work live. Quarterly events were held at the Ramsgate Music Hall showing work and discussion between audiences and artists including; Nicky Hamlyn, Ben Rowley, Cathy Rogers, Ruth Novaczek with Chantal Akerman, Joanna Jones, Vicky Smith, Bouche Bée and Deborah Humm. A commission followed in March 2017 for the Strangelove Festival, Folkestone showing work by Suky Best, Alex Jukes, Jennifer Nightingale and Jamie Jenkinson and 16mm film projections and live performance produced for the Whitstable Satellite, 2016.

Cathy Rogers, artist filmmaker, and programmer with an MPhil in experimental film (RCA), has shown work across London and the South East and delivered papers on expanded cinema at Canterbury Christ Church University, Goldsmiths, RCA and The Association of Art Historians Annual Conference. Joseph Dance has an MA in English Literature from the University of Cambridge where he co-coordinated a number of performance and experimental film events. Joseph is currently working as an archivist and is interested in how archives can be used to engage audiences in the sphere of artists’ film.

For 2018 we are embarking on a years' worth of screenings, discussion groups and workshops for 8 - 18 year olds, starting with an exhibition and associated events at University of Kent, School of Arts Studio 3 Gallery and a one night screening for Whitstable Biennale on 4th June.
